Long weekend fun!

I am so looking forward to the long weekend! I'm so excited to spend it with family.
Noel's aunt flew in from California earlier this week and we're having a birthday party for her on Saturday. She just turned 65. So, we'll be heading to Calgary tomorrow morning and we expect about 50 people to come to the party. It should be so much fun. I'm working on her birthday cake and I'm about half done. It's going to look great and I can't wait to see the finished product. Don't worry, I will take a picture!

Then on Sunday I plan to relax. I want to get my yard ready for the fall and put the expired (I don't like saying dead..lol) flowers in the compost and clean out the pots. I still have some flowers that are doing great, but I also have some that look terrible and it's time they go.
I also need to cut the grass. When Noel's home he cuts the grass every third day or so...me, not so much. It gets done maybe once every two weeks. Oops! Hope he doesn't read this! Haha! I also want to clean up the house a bit too because on Monday, Noel's aunt and his grandma are coming to our city for a visit. I'm very excited to have them come. I think we're having an afternoon bbq.

Unfortunately, Noel will be working for all of these events. Darn oilfield industry dampens our plans! Argh! I think this is one part of Noel's job that I will never get used to. I am used to him being away for weeks at a time and then coming home and spending lots of quality time with him. But I don't think I'll ever get used to him missing out on events and get togethers with our family and friends. It sucks, but he loves his job and it allows me to do what I love and that's write. So I am thankful for that. And I'm also thankful that the oilfield is booming again and Noel has lots of jobs on the go and apparently it's supposed to stay crazy busy for at least three years. This is good.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Hope you enjoy yourself! Seems like you really aren't ready for the summer to end. How cold does it get up there in Alberta? I mean, just because it is Canada it doesn't mean it is all frigid and everything. Weather patterns and all have to be accounted for.

Again, have a nice weekend!!

Hi Mark! No, I am so not ready for summer to end -- mostly because we didn't have much of a summer as it was pretty cool and we had quite a bit of rain. Yuck!
It can get pretty darn cold in Alberta! We usually get a few days of -40C -- so I'm not sure what that is when it's converted -- but it's freezing cold! Haha!
Hope you had a good weekend!
